  • Overview

    The Accountant position is a senior role in the department providing direct support to the Controller, CFO and other members of the team.  Key areas of responsibility include providing thought leadership around and hands on work with developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial and other information in accordance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.



    The following responsibilities are shared across multiple positions:

    • Prepares and maintains internal financial statements and management reporting
    • Maintains mortgage loan accounting
    • Prepares and maintains branch profitability reporting system
    • Prepares and maintains the Allowance For Loan Loss (ALL) model
    • Maintains accounting for fixed assets
    • Reconciles complex General Ledger accounts. Researches and resolves discrepancies
    • Assists in preparing federal, state, and property tax returns
    • Participates in month-end and year-end closing
    • Provides key support with annual financial statement audits and audited financial statement preparation
    • Participates in annual budgeting process
    • Administers key accounting systems including implementing functionality, testing, and supporting users
    • Writes and maintains accounting policies and procedures
    • Researches accounting (US GAAP) and regulatory requirements
    • Participates on projects teams, researching accounting requirements and impacts, and recommending and developing processes to support objectives
    • Reviews and certifies work of others
    • Performs other tasks or projects as assigned


    Position requires accuracy and the ability to coordinate and prioritize work efficiently.  Individual must be a self-starter, flexible, conscientious, comfortable with detail and able to communicate in a professional manner.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
    • 3+ years of relevant experience with accrual-basis accounting, financial reporting, and analysis
    • Possess working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP)
    • Experience preparing complex GL and other reconciliations
    • Strong ability to gather, analyze and present financial and statistical data in a clear and concise fashion
    • Demonstrated commitment to exploring and implementing process improvements
    • Strong Excel skills;  Proficiency in Access, reporting tools, and accounting systems preferred
    • Comfortable learning, leveraging, and administering accounting and related software and systems
    • Strong, open, receptive communication style and collaborative approach to work and problem solving
